THE habit.

Went to the Habit today. Between classes. Went with Adam, Bethany, Jared, and Carl. I like those kids a lot. I will miss our Wednesday dinner between class when this quarter is over, but I'm so ready to be done.

They had a yummy chicken sandwich and their fries were delicious. Gotta love it. Yum yum.

MYspace.

I've started decorating my desk at work. It's exciting. I have pictures up and a different desktop than this, but I'm on the temp login for now, because I don't have the access on mine yet.
I really like it so far, the people are good and everything is slowly clicking.

art of the pitch

I dread this class every week. Art of the Pitch. I drew that robot on the plane back from Texas three weeks ago. Instead of writing my pitch.

This class is good, but it's just stressful. I'll be happy when it's over.

here comes the sun...

I love this song. For a lot of reasons, but mainly because it reminds me of Arkansas. It reminds me of Camp Night '06, with Clara, Cory, Zach, Blake, Jessica, Mandee, Josh, and Kegan. When we sat on the dock of the lake waiting for the sun to rise and Zach played this on his mp3 player on repeat until the sun came up. :)

We had so much fun. I miss them a lot. I hate that Senior year was in Arizona, away from there. :/

"team services, this is annie..."

New job, new name tag. It's a magnetic one! And it was freeeee!

Today was my first day at Team Services. It was interesting to learn everything that happens on the other side of the window. I'm pretty excited to learn everything else.

Other things I'm excited about:
-Having my own computer/workstation
-Having my own desk name plate
-Getting to put pictures up
-Hour lunches
-Being able to eat at Panda Inn for lunch all the time!
-Having my own phone/phone extension
-Having a full-time job

There's more, I'm sure... but the basic moral of the story is that I am a dork.

"welcome to jurassic park..."

Today was my last day at JP. It's funny because it's exactly 2 years from when I started orientation. I had to clean out my box and pack up my wardrobe bag, which was weird. It's kind of bittersweet, but it's on to greener pastures! I'll miss it, but I'm excited about my new options!

here comes the storm...

After shopping in Panorama City today, I saw these clouds all around me. Gorgeous, but also quite scary. I love clouds.

I also love shopping. Well, not shopping exactly, but the feeling you get when clothes look the way they should on you. It's the best. I also cleaned my room. Pretty productive day. I feel like most things are kind of falling into place... which is nice. We'll see how long that lasts.

Accidentally grabbed these instead of real Starbursts today, but it was a pleasant surprise. I believe this is one of the smartest things Starburst has ever done. Everyone loves the reds! I do wish, however, that there had also been pinks in there too, but I guess you can't have it all...

But they do have a clever name!

Went to the park today. Rode Robert's tram with Richard. Saw the Studio Guide breakroom/area. It was odd. But cool. They have a big speaker that makes announcements! Crazy! And they have like 6 vending machines.

Then we went to see Ironman 2. It was good. Funny. Interesting. Robert Downey Jr. is fun. Mickey Rourke is scary looking. I don't like him.

wonderful government lines...

Spent a good two hours or so at the DMV today. I know have a registered car in the state of California. Exciting stuff. Spent too much on the smog check, but whatever, all is said and done.

Then took Adam and Jared to Floyd's for haircuts. The one on Ventura near the school was run into on Sunday. Someone just plowed into the front of the building. Crazy/scary.

On the plane back to Burbank the view was gorgeous. I always hate leaving. It makes me sad. I do love LA, I just wish family was closer. :/ It's hard living so far away from family, because I can't always see them. take me out to the ball game...

Went to the Dodgers game today. Paid $13 for Loge Level seats. Apparently that's a good deal. I was excited about it. They played the Pirates and won, 6-2. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar pitched the first pitch. It was bad, but he was a basketball player, so it's cool. We also got free hats. They'd be cool if I wore hats... or cared about UCLA. They're the LA symbol thing like on the regular Dodgers hats, but they're powder blue and gold, like UCLA. We barely made the cutoff for the hats it seemed. It was the first 20,000 fans, and it looked like they were down to their last 25 or so at the gate we entered when we got there.

Again, they won. And so did the Lakers. It was a good day for LA. Although, I think the Angels lost. Whatever.

Oh, and it was super windy. This made it quite difficult to eat my nachos. My hair was everywhere (screaming infidelities...) but mainly in my mouth. The nachos were not very good. Tasteless. But overall, a good game.

Today Facebook put my account on hold basically because it said it encountered suspicious activity. Turns out someone in the Netherlands wants to be me, or so I thought.

Until I realized it kept doing it every time I would try to log in from this new app I put on my phone called "Nimbuzz" that allows me to be on Facebook Chat on my phone. I'm not sure why it registered as the Netherlands, but whatever.

nothin' on you...

Today after work Richard and I went to Panda Inn, walked around CityWalk, and Cinnabon. We talked about going to see Conan at the Amphitheater, but didn't. It was our six month anniversary. I've never really been a month celebratory type person. Yearly anniversaries (since anniversary refers to a yearly celebration) have always made more sense to me. Especially after the first year. Six months is kind of a thing, then a year and every year after that.

On a semi-related note, I don't understand why people say their kids are "18 months." They're a year old, or a year and a half if you REALLY need people to know they're that old. That's all. But I guess I'll only really understand that when I have a child... I doubt my opinion will change. It's not like I go around saying I'm 256 months old. That's weird.

But I digress, the night was great. After Richard left, I met up with Joanna, Shari and Fred who were at Rumba Room salsa dancing. It was fun to watch everyone dance. Fred dragged me onto the dance floor and tried to teach me. I didn't fall over, so that's good.

washington, d.c.

Richard's mom brought this back from Washington, D.C. recently. It's weird to think about it, but I used to live in Washington, D.C. when I was a child. Well, a newborn. We left for Texas when I was about 8 months. Aside from that, I've only been once. And it was for about a day and a half. We ventured past the hot spots (White House, Capitol Building, The Mall, etc.) but we didn't stop. I still don't know the exact reason for this. I guess it was a hassle... but it was... interesting. Not educational, but interesting.

you good for sex?

Today, as I was driving (fluctuating between about 10-30 mph) in traffic, on the 405, an older man in the car next to me asks me to roll down my window. After some hesitation, I do so, assuming something is wrong with my car, and he is a good samaritan. Boy was I wrong. Upon rolling down my window, we engage in a conversation, as follows:

Man: (imagine 40-50 year old Russian man, and accent) "Give me your number."
Me: (unsure of what I just heard) "What?"
Man: "Give me your number."
Me: (disgusted look on my face, realizing he probably isn't a good samaritan, but instead some weird old man) "Why do you need my number?"
Man: "You good for sex."

I immediately rolled up my window and cut in front of his car, in an attempt to end all conversation. I look in my rear view mirror and see him throw his hands up as if to say "Did I say something wrong?" This response posed a few questions in my mind:

1. Does he do this often?
2. What about my car made him think I would be down for sex with a stranger on the freeway?
3. Does he even realize what he is saying? (Like when people tell foreigners to say embarrassing things because they don't understand the language.)
and,
4. Does this work often enough that me speeding in front of him merits a confused reaction from him? Do women just jump out of their cars and onto him when he asks this question?

Needless to say, it was quite an interesting experience. I told my sister not to tell my mom, as it would evoke some sort of concern for me that is unnecessary. (But of course, I posted it on Facebook.) The above picture is her response. She's funny. My sister, not my mom. Although, they are both funny.

I hope this is the last time this happens, but we'll see. Maybe it'll be a new fad...

and in other news...

I'm kind of cheating today, as this is an old photo, but I don't know if that was a rule... so here goes.

I found this in a book of postcards called "Breaking Bad News with Baby Animals." It's a book of postcards with cute baby animals on them, and each one reads some sort of terrible message. Things like "Grandma's dead" to "Those pants make your ass look fat."

If you do a google images search for "grandma's dead" a bunch of the postcards pop up. They make me giggle.

Enjoy!

I'm making smoothies now. Yesterday's was good. Today's... Not as good. I substituted the milk for the fruit punch. I prefer a sour/sweet smoothie instead of a creamy one.

Probably not a good move on my part, but not bad. Although it does kind of make my mouth feel numb... odd.

yummy yummy in my tummy!

Today I went to the store to buy healthy food. It's freaking expensive! I spent $107 (only after my Ralph's card brought it down from $139.) I believe this to be partly to blame for America's obesity issues. Granted, I did buy a bunch of food, but it was mainly fruit and things of that nature.

I made a yummy strawberry banana smoothie tonight. It was pretty good. I'll probably start making more or those. Experiment with different foods and such. I wish there were a thing online where you could choose what ingredients you have and it will show you what kind of smoothies you can make. I've seen something like this with alcoholic drinks, so maybe there's one out there... I can only hope.

the wheels on the cart go... away.

Outside of our apartments there are always shopping carts. Carts from Ralph's, CVS, VONS, 99 Cent Store, and so on. I don't understand why they get as far as they do, but they serve their purpose.

But the shopping carts in front of our building always have missing wheels. This baffles me. It's not like it's a car, and the tires sell for money on the street. These are shopping carts. Is there some sort of grocer's black market where you can get discount wheels for your carts from thieves? It doesn't seem to make sense. Are they in such high demand that they must be stripped from these perfectly functional, albeit far from home, shopping carts? Moral of this story, if you want to keep your shopping carts in one piece, don't bring it to my neighborhood. There is a cart gang. Watch yourself.
