the wheels on the cart go... away.

Outside of our apartments there are always shopping carts. Carts from Ralph's, CVS, VONS, 99 Cent Store, and so on. I don't understand why they get as far as they do, but they serve their purpose.

But the shopping carts in front of our building always have missing wheels. This baffles me. It's not like it's a car, and the tires sell for money on the street. These are shopping carts. Is there some sort of grocer's black market where you can get discount wheels for your carts from thieves? It doesn't seem to make sense. Are they in such high demand that they must be stripped from these perfectly functional, albeit far from home, shopping carts? Moral of this story, if you want to keep your shopping carts in one piece, don't bring it to my neighborhood. There is a cart gang. Watch yourself.
